First running module!

After a couple of weeks I finally could get my first test module to run into ArgoUML! In fact, I didn’t managed to do it by myself. The also accepted student Christian López helped me a lot. The great mistake was that I wasn’t setting up the manifest file correctly (I was doing it as ArgoUML developers cook book says it should be done, but it didn’t worked :().

The Components Dream Can’t Work

While diging through the internet I found out an interesting article and presentation by Butler W. Lampson. It argues “components dream” (building whole systems from small reused pieces) just can’t work. Each component brings along its own world view, and trying making 10 or more different world views cooperate can be a big mess.

Modest Introduction to Frame-based Knowledge Representation

As most of AI areas, the concept of frames is an attempt to simulate the way human beings seem to store knowledge. This concept has been initialy forged by Marvin Minsky at his seminal paper about the use of frames to represent knowledge.

Why Aren’t There So Much Java Component Platforms?

What is a component? A component is an independent, encapsulated and reusable unit. Components should expose some interface and should not be context-specific, therefore reusable. Components should not depend on other components internal structure, but should only be able to use their exposed interface. The component platform should also provide means to assemble different component instances.
